My son is in this picture

Photo from the BakerOneSeven website

Somewhere.

I've spent the last 30 minutes examining each face, hoping to identify him, and I've narrowed it down to two. I so want to see his face but will have to wait until they redeploy, I guess.

Today, Friday, is his 21st birthday. Happy birthday to you, LCpl Shane Conrad. He won't celebrate - his latest e-mail said, "Its funny because as far as anyone knows in the Marines, I've never had a birthday... somehow I just miraculously get older. A birthday in the corps is a beatdown so well see if I slip through the cracks again. Well Im running out of things to talk about. Just the same old shit. Rockets, Mortors and pop shots. An average day in Husaybah. I'll write you soon. Love you."

Love you too. If he gets my birthday package, it won't be much of a secret - I sent enough Ding Dongs for his platoon, with icing gel writers and birthday candles. Ah well. He's a Marine, he can take it. And, he'll have forgiven me by the time he returns.

Hi Deb, bet if you go to the website and look at the slideshow you will be able to pick out your son, the pics are large. Hope all is well with you. Our group in Lebanon is getting ready to send care boxes thru AnySoldier, hardly any Marines are signed up. It's a really great site, but then you probably already know all about it, I just found it a cpl weeks ago.
Haven't been able to find out how to continue sending to Husaybah so thought we'd give this a try. Will say a special prayer for Shane for his Birhday.

Hi Deb,
My son's birthday if Feb 12 so I sent over 3 boxex of junk food and decorations to his room mate. I told his roommate to make me proud. Hope he gets them in time to do the party thing. David hasn't had a surprise birthday party for a long time. What better time to pull it off. Yes, I'm sure I will hear about it when he comes home also, but he should be cooled off by that time. He is the middle child and always said he was the forgotten child....well not for the last 6 months and that is a fact. He's as spoiled as the other two. But I love to embarass them once in a while. It's just a mother's unending love for her child. Glad I'm not the only one doing this.
Take care. Sandy
