Report from the Syrian border

I've had the luxury of talking with my son twice in the past two days. There is a three hour wait for a 15 minute phone call, and I very much appreciate his willingness to stand in line for a few minutes of home contact, even if it is 2:00 a.m. here when he calls. Not a problem.

Our conversation this morning centered on his location. I had seen a map of the area brought back by a Marine who just returned from his own deployment. His camp is within spitting distance of the Syrian border and I remarked that I hadn't realized it was that close. "Oh yeah, we throw rocks over there all the time. Yesterday, I watched a donkey come across the border, take a dump in Iraq, and go back to Syria. If that isn't a metaphor for this whole thing, I don't know what is."

Hi Deb,
I also received a call from our son, Jason, who along with approx. 16 other Marines from Camp Lejeune are with the 1/7 in a camp by the Syrian boarder! Someone borrowed their basketball and didn't return it, so I have sent them another one.
Regarding Operation Santa . . . I have raised in excess of $1,500.00, so now I am ready to SHOP!
They really appreciate this effort. Kathy J.

Hello ladies

My husband is from Camp Lejeune attached to your men at 1/7. THis site sure is good for me. It helps me reflect a bit on what they are up too. My hubby gets to use the satellite phone within his group. I heard they were playing capture the satellite phone from one another. He usually goes online because the wait is not as long. We use yahoo Im and he sees his new little girl over the webcam. It is tough but I'm thankful and blessed that I have communication. I know woman before me in past deployments were not so lucky there.

I'm having problems with my inlaws big time, We kind of just shut them out yesterday becasue I cannot be going thought that added emotion while he is gone and becoming a new mom and dealing with the fact that he missing out on the most precious moments of her new life.

Sorry as you can see this is troubling me and I had to get it out. I look forward to chatting with you ladies from 1/7 in the future.

Take care, your sons and daughters are all in my prayers. I'm also the KV Coordinator for Charlie Co, the group with 1/7 from Lejuene and we think about you all daily.

God Bless

Tina

Hello. My son is also within "spitting" distance of the Syrian border. Unlike Kathy's and Tina's loved ones he is from Twenty Nine Palms in California. It was good to find this website and see actual comments from others who know exactly how we feel day after day. Tina, I know it's a rotten time and situation for you. I will keep you in my prayers. Hang in there, girl!

I loved Deb's son's story about the donkey. I felt it was an apt description also. Those phone calls home mean so much. We all attend the local high school as teachers and student and there is not a day that goes by when three or more co-workers and/or friends ask about Mike. It is a wonderful support for us. I pray that you all will have the same.

God's Blessings on all.

Stumbled upon a new webcam site called Chat Spasm, a chat site with girls.
