Big Balls

Marine balls are evidently bigger than most - or at least that's what what I'm guessing based on the latest troop support request. 6th ESB is deploying 17 Marines next week and their previous experience is that football with the US Army is a "non contact sport". However, the British would like to play rugby with them if we can get a supply of rugby balls. If we send them, our Marines will start a rugby league and will share the balls with the different Marine groups that have British troops or Royal Marines with them.

If you'd like to donate toward the cost of a half dozen rugby balls (and other sports equipment), please send a check to the Marine Corps Family Foundation (write rugby balls in the memo line) or paypal us at donations@marinecorpsmoms.com.

Address for the Foundation is:

Marine Corps Family Foundation
4500 Ruby Ct. NE
Salem, OR 97305

Deb- the name of your post reminded me of a story that R told from Gulr War 1.

They were stationed with some British Marines. On downtime, they engaged in different sports, volleyball being one of them. When R and some of his buddies walked onto the "court" one of the Brits said, "Ey! Look at the size of them guys!" I think it made them swell even a tiny bit bigger.

Here is my comment: There is a deputy in Marion County Florida--an Iraqi veteran--who has collected many bullet-proof vests intended for service in Iraq. Unfortunately, the Army refuses these jackets because of concerns about 'somebody getting hurt.'

This is not sarcasm--this is irony.

Help my state of Florida to deliver these much needed supplies to Iraq.

This is a serious matter of life and death.

Yours,
MATTSON

Hi Jeremy - try contacting Jim Hake at www.spiritofamerica.net - this
foundation could put these in the hands of Iraqi police and National Guard.
